Stefe (his loving sisters named him)created this edition of 250, “Handy Signs For People You Know”, on a large scale ink jet printer. The ink is dispersed by a sophisticated print head in a fine mist of minute droplets in order to deliver a continuous tone image. This is very different than his other prints, which are for the most part silkscreen (enough respect to screenprint, seen!).
The award-winning (TO BE FAIR: It won a grammy ((to be REALLY FAIR: we dont know what award it won))) ink used is Lysonic, which is manufactured using unique high strength colour dyes to ensure the longest possible display life of 65 years before a noticeable fade begins (put it under uv glass anyway).
The archival quality paper used for this edition is Hahnemuhle German Etching 310 g/m2. This paper has the subtle texture of an etching paper and a soft white tone. It is mould-made and inherently acid free, appealing characteristics that artists have enjoyed in Hahnemuhle German Etching for over 400 years. This is one of the heaviest lines of papers available, giving the final print a substantial feel (Das ist, was sie sagte).

On Wednesday 13th July we held the book launch for Crack & Shine International at the headquarters of advertising agency, Mother London. As well as unveiling the book and the new Crack & Shine film made with Vans Off The Wall.tv, we displayed an instillation by the abominable frenchman, Monsieur Horfe, a series of photos from the book by the world’s greatest photographer Will Robson Scott, and Roid did a number on the interior facade (thanks to Katsu for both quotes).
Thanks to all those at Mother who helped make it happen- Sara, Dylan, Stephen & Dan.
